I could just imagine consumables being reversed and everyone flipping out...
instead of the grail giving +100 health you lose 100 health, essence causes you to walk 25% slower and skills recharge 25% slower, armor of salvation makes all attacks critical against you.
I imagine people would be pissed if they bought a crap load of consumables and used them on april fool's tho

My guess is Anet is going to hold of the nerf because of the fame weekend to minimize the QQing that'll happen.

That would be the idea of a practical joke. To piss everyone off.
Imagine the number of QQ threads that update would cause /drool

I say we sign a petition for A-Net to go on a merciless nerfing spree.

Nerfing is not always the solution.
For the resurrected Gwen thread you'll learn that fire has its merits.

I found a nerf, don't know if it's new or not, but, shock horror, i can't walk through bushes anymore. My new baby mesmer is very upset.
And why, on a GW fansite, has the word mesmer got a red waving line under it?

Well, then... Please tell whoever is in charge of the Miniatures that I humbly demand a Miniature Armoured Cave Spider by next Monday. That will be the next build. So says me!

lol what's with all the cats?
I haven't really noticed a trend where nerfs every Thursday, but I did notice that they are happening like almost every week. Also, most nerfs are made for PvP, so I don't see why all the PvEers are complaining.

They are letting the dust settle before the storm of HA this weekend. Would be more bitching than would be bearable if they nerfed anything right now.

Thursday Nerf is occasionally later followed by the mitigating damage update, trying to deal with the complaints from the (mainly) PvE community while keeping the PvP'ers happy. It is a nice weekly "event" that is often more fun then the by now normal weekend events of double something or other.
Imagine my shock when this week we got..... NOTHING
Some will ask, what is the point of this thread and I am getting to it - did anyone else notice the Thursday Nerf trend and do you think ANet should make it official or should they stop changing the game and let us play already?
|
Nothing like throwing a little Troll bait in a topic.
I have to assume you have not been playing GW long as Thursday has been the day for balance updates (or any update for that matter) since the servers went live in 2005.
Anyway to answer you question "NO" ANet should not stop changing the game. If they did it would get very boring, very quickly. It is bad enough the way it is, at least the skill balances give it some flavor and changes things up every now and then.
Just my option of course

Cats are the harbinger of doom and lockage for a thread. Unless they get EDITED OUT!
Give Anet a week. They'll come up with something truely spectacular

And if you were paying attention, they usually only do it 2 weeks a month. Once to get changes in, and another to make amendments to those changes. So the conclusion is: you're full of shit.

Yeah, I didn't quite see the troll bait aspect of it, but it just seems from a casual glance that every update thread becomes firstly filled with people that say "At last, should have done that long time ago" then comes the wave of "this skill was like that for <insert time>! Why change it now?" followed by "oh no, I can no longer farm <insert monster>!". This is usually mixed in with a generous sprinkling of "why didn't they nerf ursan blessing? Ursan ruined the game!" intermixed here and there. And finally, many posts down the road someone will come along that will explain why the nerf was needed, to just cause everyone else to post again with their alternative solutions, quite a few of which, I admit, seem fairly reasonable and also appear to influence the fix being released sometime down the road, to quiet the raging gamers.
It is just my opinion, but that is what the post-update threads usually look like.
As for thursday being update day from the onset, true enough, but the thing is, recently it has become a "weekly" update thing. Given a choice, wouldn't you rather have all updates happen regularly? So that you could plan your gameplay around it. On the other hand, the surprise factor is gone, and too much pressure is on the devs to update the game so often.
